five? really?

"They placed you in our arms and all our dreams came true"

Five years ago at this exact same time I was in the hospital waiting for my baby to be born. I didn't know that he was going to be a he and I honestly didn't really even know that if he were a he, he would be a Lucas. Just thinking about those two days that I was in hospital prior to his birth so many feelings re-emerge. For my "focal" point to use while I was pushing I had brought a picture of my niece and nephew, I remember being so upset that I wasn't going to be able to see my niece the next day. I actually remember crying about not being able to see her.

I was so scared and at one point actually remember saying "why did I get pregnant?" The answer to that question quickly became clear, well maybe not quickly but when my little man made his way into this world all fears, questions, everything washed away. Seeing his little face for the first time (even though it was from a picture) was the most happy time in my life. I had never felt so much love for one single thing EVER!!! Having my little man was the most awesome experience ever, even with all the problems I wouldn't take back one single thing.

And now, how is possible that my little man is now turning five? How is it possible that my little man is going to be starting preschool in the fall? How is it possible that that love that I first felt for him grows stronger everyday?

I love my kids more than anything in this world, I truely cannot believe that my "little man" is going to be FIVE!!! I really can't, however he is and I am so proud of the "little man" that he's grown into. I can only imagine how much prouder he will make me over the years!!

A little bigger...

It's been a while...

Man it's been a while since I've last blogged, I actually thought a couple times about giving up on it but decided against it, I mean really how hard is it to drop a couple lines once in a while?!?

So things have been going pretty well lately, Christmas was great, New Years was kinda crappy, oh well, next year we'll make up for it!!!

The Bears are on their way to the Superbowl, which makes everyone in my family happy, WE LOVE THE BEARS! Watched the game yesterday at my sister's, it was fun. My mom made lasagne (my favorite) and we drank some beers and watched a not so fun game. It was way too close for comfort. In the end they won and that's all that matters!!!

I guess I should tell everyone about my bday, it kicked major butt. A golden retriever, a laptop and a surprise party, my family and friends are amazing. I also got an assortment of other things and I love them all, I really do have kick ass people in my life!!! My golden retreiver's name is Moose, actually his full name is Muhsin Wide Retriever, named after a wide reciever for the Chicago Bears (told ya we liked them). He's a great puppy and as soon as I can get him to stop peeing on my floor I will be even more happy with him, lol. Oh well, I guess that's what we get with a puppy.

It snowed again lastnight & today for the first time since my last post, I'm super excited to take the kids out in it after my niece gets back from school, they are so excited too.

I can't really think of anything else to write so I'll be off, hopefully my next blog won't we too far away, I really wanna keep up on this thing.

Our trip to the North Pole...

Saturday we went on a trip to the North Pole via the Polar Express. The kids had a blast, I was about to pull my hair out by the end of the night but whatever, lol. The kids saw Santa, had tickets made with their names on them, colored, saw a train set on the move and got a bell that fell from the reindeer's harness, and since it had snowed previously there, they got to see snow...man was this thrilling for them. I can guarantee you though that Luke will never pick up a ball of snow with his bare hands again, he learned fast how cold snow can be. It was a great day.

Black Friday, bring it on...

So this morning I crawled out of bed at 4:30 am, yes that's right 4:30 AM to go shopping with my mom, my cousin, Anna and my sister, Melissa. We had a blast. We got to WalMart right about 5 to find about a million and twelve people there all looking for that same thing. We were lucky enough to get a couple of V-Smile's, one for each of us and Anna had the joy of listening to some happy customer cuss everyone out in front of her for one reason or another, lol. Happy Holidays to you too, lady! Then it was off to Menards where we had to sit in the car for 15 mins. because they hadn't opened yet. It was really interesting to see all of the people lined up outside just waiting to get in. There was nothing we were really too interested in there so we just kinda sat back and enjoyed the show. Anna and I stuck together while shopping there and were apparently lucky to have gotten in line when we did since my mom & Mel had to stand in line for 30 MINS!!! Anna and I sat in the car in various locations in the parking lot, since we didn't realize it was going to take them 8 years to get out. By the time they re-joined us the sun had decided to make an appearance. Then it was off to Farm and Fleet and then heading out of town. I won't bore you with all of the details, but it really was a fun day.

Highlights include:
* getting some really great deals
* finding some things that I didn't think I was going to be able to get anywhere except Ebay
* laughing our butts off multiple times, for no particular reason
* seeing a friend that I haven't seen in over 5 years
* running into about 20 other people and just getting the chance to chat, if for just a second
* eatting at Hooters (there food kicks major butt)
* having a day child free
* listening to my mom snore in the back of the van on the way home and then laughing histerically about it
* and my favorite, hands down, was just spending time with the girls

and some not so fun things:
* getting up at 4:30 am
* driving around without my headlights on
* having 3 "back seat" drivers
* standing in line for over an hour at one store
* having my brother-in-law scare the pooh right out of me
* having a child free day
* eatting at Hooters (could've done without all of that tata cleavage and butt cleavage)

Overall the day was really really great. I'd do it again in a second. I hope that we can continue to do this for many years to come. Next year we need to get the Aunts to go and the other girl cousins...oh man, can you imagine? What a blast we'll have!!!
